Back Gardens of Britain
Ideas from the Back Gardens of Britain
Over the past twenty five years, I have visited lots of gardens throughout Britain, from small suburban plots and inner city allotments to roof gardens and large country estates. This lecture introduces you to the owners and the gardens they’ve created in a wide range of styles, from Judith Queree’s stylish plantsperson’s garden in Jersey, packed with unusual plants, to the life changing garden on a maisonette roof near Gateshead with its plastic statuary and bedding plants and one of the most exciting potager’s in the country at West Green House.
The talk considers what we can learn from them about gardens, gardeners’ and gardening, so that we can increase our own enjoyment of the greatest hobby in the world.
